pleasantly twisted, much cringe

I love criminal minds style shows so this was that in book form. Needs a bit more character development. I feel like a lot of the book was focused on the environment and describing the way people looked but not so much the characters themselves.

At first I wasn't too sure about this, but I got pulled in pretty quickly.

A great thriller and mystery that any true crime lover will enjoy. The pacing was great, and I loved the two different viewpoints.

The only thing that caught me a bit off guard at first was that the flashbacks were written in present tense, while the current action was written in past tense. Not a deal breaker though once I got used to it.

Definitely left me wanting more.

The pros: Fast-paced popcorn mystery if that’s what you’re in the mood for. The grittiness, the setting of Portland. The romanticized snapshot of what it might’ve been like to go into journalism in the early 2000’s. The cop/serial killer dynamic.

The cons: SO MUCH CRINGE!! Will probably still read the entire series though when I’m in the mood for this genre again
challenging dark mysterious

This was an interesting read, but it took me forever to get into the story. I'm sure it had a lot to do with me not feeling well for 2 months! I think the story was kind of slow in the beginning, but I don't know if it really was the book or just me. Eventually the story had more supsense to it and I was anxious to see how it was going to end. I have the other 3 books in this series and I will read them. I'm hoping that now that I'm starting to feel better, I can get back to the reading I love.
