There will be flashes of really strong, heart wrenching scenes. And then many chapters of boring dense politics. DNF at 58%

I liked this but it’s really hard to keep up with all the characters and planets and tribes. Glad this is only a two book series.

Real score 4.65. Not feeling loquacious: just liked it.
adventurous challenging dark

It was good.
im glad she didnt kill off the main character like in Divergent

So I accidentally spoiled myself for one the big reveals of this book which I think really affected my reading of it. But I think had I not had the spoiler I would have enjoyed it even more so while I think this read was a 3.5 for me I'm going to bump it up to 4 stars.

I loved Cyra in this just as I loved her in the first book. I love seeing her let more people in and become friends with others. I liked seeing the struggle in Cyra and Akos' relationship. The quickness of it in the first book bothered me a bit and so I liked that they finally were showing a dose of reality in their relationship. Akos had a lot of struggles in this book and some were painful to read but everything felt so right for his character. Cisi I loved in a lot of moments but there were a few where I was kind of bored by her chapters. Her currentgift is so interesting and I love the larger connotations at the end of this book (and a little throughout) that this character who is sweet and innocent is also a great manipulator.

The side characters shine in this. Eijeh technically has a couple of POV chapters, but he still feels very much like a side character. I loved getting to see into his head and how everything that had happened in the previous book really changed him. I love Teka much more than I did in the first book. Yma also unfolded into an even better character. The planet Ogra felt like it's own character and it's inhabitants were so interesting.

Kontynuacja nieco gorsza niż pierwsza część

I actually liked this book more than the first one. There was more explanation of the political structure of the world, which created a depth to the galaxy that was missing a bit from the first one.
I also liked focal shift from Cyra and Akos's relationship to their relationships to other people. Friendship and familial love became a greater force than romantic love, which was a refreshing take for the particular genre.
I loved the audio work with this book. It was well paced and the reader's voices fit the characters.
