I was a bit disappointed by this book. I enjoyed Carve the Mark but this book introduced characters and then left them undeveloped. I still have questions about crucial plot points. Whether this is because Veronica Roth left them unanswered or because she answered them but I was disengaged I will never know.

Was een prima verhaal, maar niet heel bijzonder. Met zoveel planeten en intergalactische oorlogen en problemen en orakels had het zoveel meer kunnen zijn. Maar heb het wel met plezier gelezen!

A sensational sequel to Carve The Mark. The world-building I loved so much in book one continued in book 2. I loved the build-up and the resolution to Akos and Cyra's story. These books are a quick, exciting read.

Wow! I did not expect to get emotional or even enjoy this book a whole lot because the first one was a little iffy for me. I feel like Roth really switched gears on the whole pain issue. Which made the story better. There was so much that happened that was so unexpected and I loved all the surprises.
