I have to say... for a YA novel I was impressed with the sophistication of the politics in Ms. Roth's world building. I loved the characters and was enthralled in the world she created. Thank you.

The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth is the second and final book in the Carve the Mark Series. I give it 4.5 stars because although the plot is genius, I found the names of the characters and places hard to keep track and had to make a list of names and characteristics, as well as a map of planets and cities to follow the story. Veronica Roth portraits very strong female role models in this book and is not afraid to go outside the stereotypes associated with female heroes. This YA book is a story of fates and how they can be changed. Great series!
I wasn't a big fan. Predictable. Slow moving. Not great character development.
I really enjoyed this book but am saddened that I can barely remember what happened in this first one. It felt kinda dragged at certain parts but overall it was ok. The divergent series definitely beats this one and im ok with that and glad I still read this :)

Cisi's plot seemed pretty irrelevant to me. I found myself wanting to skip those chapters and I almost wished they were devoted to Eijeh instead.

The second book was better, but still pretty boring. But, It is very hard to think of something new in the fantasy genre as it is, so I don’t think Veronica Roth should get much flak. At least she is trying. The good points of her book were that the characters weren’t one dimensional, the plot didn’t seem too cliché, she didn’t kill off any main characters, and she sure can write an action scene.
It was fine. Kind of a cop out on the fates though.
