I very much enjoyed this duology. I found it interesting and compelling. Sometimes when books switch between a few perspectives, there’s one or two that you don’t like reading, but I connected with each narrator. I’ve seen complaints about the pace of the plot and lack of action (compared to the first, I guess), but I didn’t have a problem with either. There are a few things near the end that I feel could’ve been done better, but oh well. I also wish that we could’ve seen more from Eijeh/Ryzek’s perspective. I’d love if she chose to expand on the series a bit.

Ahhhh. I wish I loved this book as much as I did the first one, I really do, but it just didn’t give me what I was looking for. I did like the ending, but most of the book felt like filler with only a few main plot points. I think Carve the Mark could have been an amazing stand alone if it was a bit longer. This sequel didn’t really feel necessary in the end.
When I rate a Veronica Roth book with anything less than 4 stars, you should know by now that it's not a compliment. This was actually disappointing. Character development was degrading and underwhelming. Too much loose ends and not enough explanation. Is this the same person who wrote The Chosen Ones and Divergent? I know, shocked me too.
I really didn't see the need for a sequel to Carve The Mark and after reading it, I definitely feel there shouldn't have been one.
The story is "nice" but the characters have fallen quite short of real.
There was a war going on throughout the course of this novel but I didn't notice that. It didn't feel as though a war was going on.
Everything being said....meh 👎

Njaah. Ei tämä nyt ihan iskenyt. Oli tässä asioita, joista pidinkin (esim. Cyra), mutta pääosin jäi vähän lattea fiilis.
Had a hard time keeping track of the unique names, but the setting was original. The perspective changed in different chapters, with different characters having different tenses. There were some twists in the plots I didn’t expect.
I loved this book. There were many twists and it kept it very interesting the whole way through. I couldn't put it down. I'm sad that this is the last book but it was worth the read and id definitely recommend this book along with the first one.
The Fates Divide was high on my list of anticipation after I read Carve The Mark. I preordered it and everything (which I NEVER do... I’m not a fan of hardcovers). The end result? Feeling mixed about this book.
Perhaps I was just too excited to read it and came in with too high of expectations. I really enjoy this world of space-like travel and individuals who learn to embrace the unique gifts they foster. But man, this book had a slow start. If you can make it to page 200, I guarantee you’ll fly through then end.
