2022- With a dashing stroke of world building, Huxley draws the reader into a gripping adventure that actually encompasses very little. The book is written in a tangential way, nothing in it is revealed easy to the reader, but, once locked in, it is hard to put the book down. The intro was gripping and the moments of staccato, almost maniac writing, are chaotically captivating.
The characters that have fallen into the unavoidable trap of their own world are treated very one dimensionally and seemingly with contempt. Lenina is a central figure yet undergoes no metamorphosis or depth. Bernard is a protagonist that displays contemptible qualities up until the very end, but in a way that makes him human and relatable. Heimholtz (and his relationship to John) are a particular shining star.
Brave New World Revisited takes the lessons illustrated through the novel and expounds on them in an essay like format. A complete scholarly work, the ideas flow smoothly and are very well elaborated on. Overall, both literary pieces work in conjunction to provide a startling view on some of the metaphysical threats presented to modern society.

One of my favorite books...and certain things happening now make it horrifyingly prophetic.
Made some interesting and necessary points (and a few outdated ones) but overall not an enjoyable read.
