A pretty pointless book. I am not sure what I think of this new trend in the YA series genre of the 1/2 books. Sometimes they are a good way to learn more about a secondary character that there is not time to delve into deeper in the main series (see Michael Scott and his short stories that compliment the The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) but other times, it just seems kind of a waste, or a way for an author to publish more.
This was one of those. The book consists of a 4 little "short stories" all taking place in the past of Daniel and Luce, on Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, none of these little stories added much to any of the characters or the over all story arc. It wasn't painful to read, just sort of left me feeling like "so what?"
On the plus side, it is about 200 pages, which on can breeze through super quickly, skimming about half of it. I have to say I am very glad I did not invest my dollars in this one and just borrowed it from the library.

3 Stars
Fallen (Book #1), Torment (Book #2), Passion (Book #3), Fallen in Love (Book #3.5), Rapture (Book #4), and Unforgiven (Book #5) make up the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. They are Young Adult, paranormal stories- with fantasy, angels, good vs evil, drama, angst, fate, hidden agendas, danger, mystery, a love triangle, reincarnation, and more.
This is another book/series that has been sitting on my book has been on my TBR for far too long. Another series that had got lost amongst the thousands of books on/in my TBR. This year part of my reading challenge was to reduce my TBR- both in paperbacks and on my kindle, by reading some of the older backlog. So, here we are….
After reading the entire series now, I have to admit that although the premise and world building was quite good, there were parts that really frustrated me, and fell a little short. I was expecting to be blown away- but it just failed to deliver on my expectations. That’s not to say that I didn’t like the series, I didn’t mind it- but I fear my expectations were much higher than the books could deliver. I do recommend reading the books/series for yourself and making up your own mind though, as there are plenty of people who absolutely loved them.
The story/series follows Lucinda (Luce), Daniel, Cam, (and many other characters) as we discover a world of fallen Angels, Nephilim, curses, reincarnation, and even some time travel. There is much more to the characters and the situation than first appears, and there were a few twists thrown in that I didn’t see coming- but a lot of the story was a little predictable.
I would read more of Lauren Kate’s work just to get more of a fell of what she’s capable of.
Thank you, Lauren Kate!

Seriously Lauren ? A horse named blackie? Not only was the book terrible but that made me put it down for good
The shorts are just as good I love diving more into the world of Luce and Daniel.
Fallen in Love was amazing! It was superb! I liked it.
It's comprised of 4 short stories, all about love, which I'd never thought that it would be somehow related to each other.
The first story tells about Shelby and Miles, the second Roland, the third Arriane and the last, is none other but Lucinda and Daniel. Shelby and Miles's love story were super cute. Romantic, I had to say, it was funny 'cuz they didn't realize that they fell in love with each other. I admire Roland's courage in keeping his love for Rosaline, though it was unrequited and unfortunately, she is married to another man. Arriane's story was so heartbroken; but it was nice to know that Tess would do anything for Arriane. And last but not least, is our so-called perfect couple. It was dazzlingly wonderful to know that Luce didn't go up in flames!
Anyway, it was well-paced and was truly entertaining. Definitely one of my best reads!

I enjoyed these four short stories set in the middle of [b:Passion|9369720|Passion (Fallen, #3)|Lauren Kate|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362339802s/9369720.jpg|10958266], the third book of the Fallen series. In addition to more Daniel and Lucinda past life love, we learn about Roland and Arianne's tragic pasts full of love lost and see Shelby and Miles move forward in their own relationship.
A nice interlude, though not without sorrow, in medieval England for these characters.
