This was a really excellent entry in the long-running In Death series! Captivating story, really villainous villains, and some nice backstory development for secondary characters. The audiobook was narrated by the ever-amazing Susan Ericksen, who will always and forever be the voice of Eve Dallas in my head.
She's back on track. Eve is still mixing her metaphors and catching pickpockets in the park. Nice intersection of the 'crime' and dochas - mixing of eve/roarke's interests.
All the boxes would have been checked if Eve/Roarke had competitively scaling a home climbing wall, in prep for their compound break-in.

As always well done!!! enjoyed the build and suspense!!!
The In Death books are always comfort reading for me. This book is solid, though it ended up being of the big bust variety that I haven't been enjoying as much as the more character-driven installments of this series. Coincidentally, I just listened to the podcast Unfinished: Short Creek, and this book reminded me a lot of it since it was also about a religious cult. I like that JD Robb includes small details about the characters' ordinary lives as well as their big and small life goals. I gather these morsels up like the treats that they are in a series that is 52 books deep. I wish that this volume had had more hang-out time among the characters, but that's not a fault of the book as a mystery. That's just me kind of wanting slice-of-life fan-fiction with the characters :p
Another improbable but somehow believable plot, another few days with the familiar and lovable characters of the In Death series, another fine book, another winner. It's great; read it.
Not a bad book, but not really my style of true crime. Nora Robert’s crime series
