Bad title. Gooood book.

Gruesome thriller about a missing child's case in a town with a dark history. Will forever be known as the book that made me shout at my housemate because she tried to talk to me while I was reading it. I would say the multiple POV worked really well in allowing the story to unfold at just the right pace - it can feel slow, not because you're bored but because you're desperate for answers, which is what mystery/thrillers are all about.

This book kept my interest. However I am confused by the ending. Could do without the cussing.

I don't know how much of this was due to it being an audiobook, but I could not follow all of the generic white men. One of the characters refers to
his father
by his job title, his last name, and as
dad
and I couldn't follow. Also a wild choice to have every perspective third person except for one?

The narration was so one note. No tonal changes for different characters, no inflection to differentiate between statements or questions, calm people or agitated people. A Speak n Spell would have brought more life to the characters. I don't know if this book would have been enjoyable with a different narrator, but the ending was not worth wading through this.

This was recommended to me because it was severely creeping and while it was, I would say the primary descriptor should be EMOTIONALLY DEVASTATING
