I fell in love with Lucy Score because of "Things We Never Get Over" in the beginning of this year. When I was looking for more books of hers I found "Pretend You're Mine" and let me tell you, I fell in love with Luke within the first few pages. This book is different for me, mostly because it goes further. It doesn't stop with going to war and coming back to a happy ever after. It's about falling in love, fighting for love, war, family and so much more. This is definitely one of my favorite books I've read so far in 2023.
I love Lucy Scores writing style and her way with words. This book is spicy. VERY SPICY. It is enjoyable and cute at the same time and by the end I was just happy for them, whilst also sad for me because I wanted to spend more time with Harper and Luke.
I would recommend 10/10!

Loved the chemistry and characters, although a bit unrealistic at times. Heartbreaking background story for Luke. Intense background for Harper.

I love the story line, Luke really is a dumbass.
The epilogue was just okay unfortunately. I would have appreciated more. Oh well!

When pretending to be together turns into falling in love.. love, action, and the perfect amount of spice. One of the best Lucy Score books I’ve read so far.
2.5 Stars.
I literally could not dislike the entirety of this book more than I do. The tropes were DUMB. Also, why did no one tell me that Pretend You're Mine and Finally Mine IS THE SAME EXACT STORY BUT JUST DIFFERENT PEOPLE????? I was so so mad when I started reading Finally Mine and was like, "What a second!" I almost threw the book across the room. It literally opens WITH THE SAME SCENE. ugh. I'm annoyed.
Pros: I liked the dedication. It was cute.
Cons: everything else?
Luke... GROW UP, this man child was so whiny the entire time and he totally used Harper. I felt so bad for her. She was trying to talk to him and he just would give her 3 words or less. It was like he was being charged for every word he spoke and had a budget of 10 cents. At one point, I wanted Harper to slap him across the face. He had no character growth. He was a jerk 90% of the book and then all of a sudden, he decides to be an okay person for like 1% and then he's back to being a jerk for 8% and then the last page he's like, "Alright, for realsies, I'll be good" BRO IT'S TOO LATE, GO AWAY!!!
There needed to be character growth and there was none.
