lucy score so far to me has one genuinely good book and then many other okay books. I read through my highlights and just remembered he sang to her and in another book or life i'd love that but I distinctly remember not loving it here so sorry lucy that one book is killer anyways I don't remember much else but it was eh 3.7/5
The plot was cute but a majority of the book felt a little forced. The same struggles kept coming up for the characters and they all seemed to have the same convos over and over with each other. Men should never sing to apologize. Sorry.
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Excellent - Highly Recommended
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - A good, solid read
3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - An okay read
2 ⭐️⭐️ - Meh
1 ⭐️ - Not my cup of tea

I honestly can't figure out how I feel about this book. I enjoy our supporting characters quite a bit- and I also enjoy our main girl for the most part. Aldo and Gloria are amazing, as are Sophie and Ty. I can't get enough of them and their friendships with Harper. I think watching Harper find her found family was the best part of this book. (I'm a sucker for found family)
Luke though? I just can't get behind him and his hurting-you-for-your-own-good attitude for 90% of the book. We don't know much of anything about why he's acting the way he is until the last like 1/4 of the book. Instead of adding mystery to the situations I feel it just portrays Luke as this hyper independent ass who doesn't care who he hurts and, making me not want to root for the main couple.
Also, let's talk about Harper. I don't understand how she forgave him so quickly or why she stayed when he very clearly told her that he could never love her. Maybe that's just me.
The book ending may be my biggest issue with the book. The book ends with Luke proposing to Harper. This is around Christmas time, and we know that Luke got back around Octoberish. Making this around a 9 month relationship (if even). I get the whole "if you know you know" thing but let's take a look at this timeline.
The first month of their relationship is fake to get Luke's family off his back.
The next 6 months of their relationship are real, but he's deployed to Afghanistan.
Then he comes home and they break up sometime after Thanksgiving.
They spent a month or so together, in person and for real, before getting engaged and during that time Luke is distant, angry, and arguably emotionally abusive.
Additionally, I love a trashy smut scene as much as the next girl but if I read the phrases "heavy sack" or "churned in his balls" one more time, I'm gonna vomit.

Ooo despite some plot flaws (tried to cram too much into the narrative) ... I loved it. I too fall into the vortex of watching military personnel returns, so this made tears appear at all times. Yes I will read all the ones in the series!
Lucy Score! Oh how I love your books! This one was so great! I could not put it down. From right out of the gate this book had me hooked. This was the first book to bring me to tears for the good and the bad.

Loved this book! My only regret was not diving into this series sooner ❤️❤️
I really liked these characters. Strong female lead with a strong man... both equals and strong willed but both passionate. It was all around a good story with hot steaming passion.
