Luke needed to grovel more. Harper needed to actually plan. It really isn't cute to forget half the things you're supposed to do.
Also, the whole army part was icky to me, what with US being the aggressors but blaming everyone else all the time.

Fuck Luke.
I wish Harper just left to a nice beach town and lived her life in bliss away from this guy.

I just couldn’t put it down. Reading about someone who is sarcastic and wild with the fight of a man, was relatable, and likable. Haven’t read a military romance like this, but man did it have me feeling a certain way. Several times I had to stop myself from crying. 🪖

Harper + Luke
she's running from her life, he's leaving for the army (navy?) he lets her stay in his house, and she basically falls in love with the city, with the people, with the life she has there, even when he's away. he comes back, after an injury and does respect that she loves being there, and loves him. he's a widower who does not want to move on. they accept each other, but it does feel like she likes the town and his family better than she likes him.
