Very cutesy and kind of demure... Lucy Score you have surprised me.

Didn't love the whole "I can't love you" spiel coming from Luke but you know... it is what it is.

Didn't love the whole insta love we got from Harper. She was saying "I love you" like a month in but you know what.... I don't doubt she did love him but how much of it was her just playing house? You know having a family, not just Luke. Luke's family, friends, in laws. A house. Dogs. etc....

Well this was my first book of 2023… it was alright kinda slow and I know trauma and all but damn sometimes characters not communicating makes me almost have brain aneurisms sometimes.

Very kiddy. Sounds like something that was written on Wattpad, and has an air of inexperience in life and understanding emotions. Characters reactions are extremely unbelievable in many situations, and the way that they act/the things they say (
especially with Karen’s mother
and strangers that just start cheering/clapping at things the main characters do in the duration of the book) are so extremely unrealistic that it seems out of a children’s book.

Characters automatically know whatever the author wants them to, (or must all be masterminds in understanding things) as seen when
Clive Perry is speaking with Luke and mentions he earns his money through “other things” and Luke immediately understands that it means adult films with children. Also when Luke has his flashback to when Harper was asking to “talk about something important” and he automatically makes the connection to her abuser? Like it could have been about so many other things, such as your relationship that was currently falling apart
. This type of thing happens many times, yet the characters are very unreasonable and misunderstand everything when it is convenient for the storyline.

Everything also moves unreasonably fast in this book,
as Gloria and Aldo
get engaged within week of dating and
Harper and Luke
get engaged within physically seeing each other (not including long distance) for a month and a couple weeks (in which they were only officially dating for like a week or two).
Luke also proposes directly after the fight, which was resolved by him and his entire family singing cringy songs not even relating to the forgiveness he is supposedly asking her for.

It is always mentioned that Benevolence is such a small town, yet they always conveniently have everything they need there or nearby (furniture store, when
Luke supposedly bought the proposal ring locally,
ect).

Also disliked the comments made about “not angering women” and “never argue with your women if you want to be happy” that are used many times throughout the book. Also Harper’s horniness about everything  got progressively more annoying throughout the book.

Overall Isn’t the worse book I’ve ever read, if read for ‘no plot just vibes’ (I’ve been in the trench’s with some books), and I normally do not care too much about plot holes; yet because of the fact that this author was hyped up so much by a friend it was just generally disappointing for it to be so tremendously average. Exudes Wattpad and inexperience in writing and in life, which can be a vibe sometimes, but I don’t believe it works at all in this book as it is “adult romance”.

Luke gave me the ick. Too much “baby” calling for me

I cried, I laughed, I screamed, I giggled, I sighed
