Out of respect for myself (bc Harper didn't earn any respect) I'm giving it one star without having read the book lmao, just seeing the reviews and how horribly this motherfucking widower treated the fmc is enough

❛Harper wasn't Karen. And that was the problem.❜

❝You're only here because she's gone.❞

❝I can't look at you without wishing she was here.❞

Not to mention other atrocities like putting his late wife's picture on the wall of the house he shares with Harper.

I would have cut my wrists reading this, it's a shame because I wanted to read the author, but I will always distrust those who are capable of writing THIS.

I cried multiple times while reading this book (disclaimer I am an emotional bitch). I really didn't think I was going to get so into it when I started because I wasn't sure about the writing but damn did I get dragged in. I really cared for Harper and loved the small town vibes. I know this book won't be for everyone but as far as I'm concerned, it was a great way to spend my weekend.

I'm a sucker for any and everything Lucy Score. I am also on a mission to read all the things from her backlist, this being one of them.

After a pretty bad breakup and with no plan whatsoever, Harper drives the wrong way for four hours and ends up in a small town called Benevolence with no money, a broken down car and none of her things. Lucky for her, she's found by Sophie and that girl does have a plan. Her brother, Luke, needs a girlfriend to get his mom off his back and he's only got a month at home before he deploys to Afghanistan again. Harper and Luke make a deal and he's helping her start over, but she's also starting over with him and falls for him hard. But Luke? He's convinced he will never love again.

If you like fake dating, this one is for you. I kept wondering how this would take a turn when everything felt good about a third of the way through. I didn't see all the twists coming, and they were well done. Not my favorite Lucy, but any Lucy is a good one!!!
