it took a minute to adjust to the 3rd person writing and a bit longer than usual to connect to the characters but i love harper so much, she’s an awesome human and i love how fierce she is.
i was not a fan of her violating luke’s most painful traumas. whilst he should have already told her what had happened sometimes it takes time to let down those walls and open up, and although i would also want to snoop so badly it just felt wrong when she did that. that being said luke was a dumbass for refusing to admit that he obviously loved her but i understand the reasons behind why he was being like that. the 3rd act breakup was way more painful than i was expecting and the proposal through acts of service and words of affirmation at the end brought tears to my eyes.
i loved this little town and i love aldo and gloria so much and can’t wait to read their book.

Harper - a slightly chaotic woman with a heart of gold - finds herself outside a bar in a tiny town with no phone, no wallet, and an empty tank. She’s saved in so many ways by a somewhat reluctant Luke.

He gives her a job, somewhere to stay, eventually many orgasms, and a found family.

But as open as Harper seems, she’s hiding something. And Luke is very obviously hiding things of his own.

Anywho they agree to a month long situationship. He’s redeploying so she’ll move on to Fremont where she was originally headed at the same time.

Obvs not that simple though! Harper falls in love with him - still plans to leave because that was the deal - and although he’s your typical “I can never love you” he obviously falls in love with her too. He just refuses to believe it. Insert eye-roll at man logic here.

Their chemistry, the spice, the alpha-broody-strong-silent-tattooed-war-hero, the network of friends and family, the bubbly-caring-feisty-heart-of-gold-woman, the DOGS! What’s not to love?

Apart from the tertiary abusive characters - and of course war itself - the only negative was their collective secrets and incessant need to keep them from each other. Also Luke’s idiotic belief that he could never love Harper, thus pushing her away instead.

I do think she went too far invading his privacy though.

A great read in all, and it looks like it might be a series so I’m off to investigate!

Very mixed feelings about this book… I think overall well written and good plot, the thriller/mystery/action elements helped the book have a good pace. I do feel the ending was quite rushed where I think I’d have like to see more growth from the MMC rather than the total 180 that we did.

While we’re talking about the MMC, he has to be one of my least favourite I’ve read. Now don’t get me wrong I love a possessive/protective MMC as much as the next smut-loving gal, but this felt a bit too much too soon to the point of it screaming red-flags and putting me off him. I really enjoyed reading how the FMC grew her relationships and found her ‘found family’ in the town. However, I found that same journey lacking in her relationship with the MMC, where instead it was filled in with smut scenes compensating for a lack of genuine bond. Reading a romcom, unlike sometimes a thriller or a drama, you *want* the FMC and MMC to end up together, and actually found myself disappointed that they did at the end of this.

Overall, a good read but not what I was hoping to get from this book as sadly the romance in this romcom let it down.

This was a great book. The characters were believable. I definitely said I was like Harper from the beginning. Lol.

Need a book, that you will want to continue to read? This is it.

Wow!!! Pretend Your Mine is one of the best books I’ve read this year, it’s funny, witty, charming, heart wrenching, and just all around perfect! I read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading, Luke and Harpers banter had me laughing out loud and shedding a tear or two. Seriously I loved everything about this story and would highly recommend this book to everyone!
