I love Lucy scores writing. This Romance felt so realistic and the grief and trauma the characters went through wasn’t brushed off but instead, the story showed how they dealt with it, or didn’t. This was such an enjoyable read, but definitely heavy. I loved the fake dating. The pacing was a little weird because halfway through I felt like it could’ve ended, but then it really picked up after and I felt like it was necessary plot.

the first 200 pages of this book moved sooo fast and the middle was so slow. i think it could’ve been improved if the time before the deployment was a little slower and the actual deployment time was more condensed. like wdym you love him after 2 weeks and are willing to wait 6 months for a relationship you’ve barely even started?? the end also felt so rushed and like all these issues came out of thin air just for the sake of a dramatic breakup. i’m just baffled that in a matter of days, Luke went from swearing he would never love her to proposing to her. Harper is also a lot better than i am. because if a man told me he couldn’t love me and was so hellbent on keeping me at a distance, i’m out of there. the pacing of this book was just all over the place, and i didn’t really love either of the main characters

but, the vibes were there and i did really enjoy Harper’s relationships with the people in town, especially Sophie, Aldo, and Joni. the friendship, found family, and sense of community was so refreshing, it almost makes me want to move to a small town and start over
funny inspiring lighthearted tense medium-paced
