This book is SO much fun!
Here’s the story sans spoilers: A guy gives up on civilization and heads into the Mexican jungle. He’s a drunk, but is accepted by a local tribe. The group believes he is gifted with some sort of wisdom and begin to look to him as a leader. All well and good. BUT THEN… He begins to communicate with mosquitoes and learns of their hierarchical structure and their plans for world domination…
A short, guano-crazy ride of a book! I loved it!

For such a short book, I have a lot of thoughts! I really enjoyed this. There are definitely some parts that show the time in which it was written, but putting those aside, I thought the play with god concepts really fun.

I'm not sure what my favorite line of the book is, but at first glance, it might be: "I know the gods love blood, and that is why I have offered it to you..."

The other thing that stands out: emotionally-stunted, angry, men in the 40s were a lot like emotionally-stunted, angry, men in the 2020s. Crazy, huh?

What a crazy idea for a book! Definitely more crazy than animal farm or Brave New World. That's one thing that attrackted me. Some originallity and craziness breathes more life into me and reading it I feel more lively and amazed.

Another thing, there are a lot of great thoughts in this book. Main character thinks a lot about humanity, civilization, himself and God. Worth reading only for that.

And then, there is a bit more traditional scenario with the main character being dissapointed in civilization, growing accustomed to power and then starting to doubt whether he chose the right path. The doubts arise because of feelings for a woman (powerful emotions) and because of belief about God and how his idea is very important for humans and animals to feel free, to feel as separate entities. However, organizational apparatus doesn't care about the freedom and does not want it for its members.

I'll need to read this book again in the future for sure.
