This is a wonderful book. It is my favorite by this author. I just love it and enjoy re-reading it. Delightful characters along with time travel and a special romance.

This one just wasn't it, might be a little too outdated in style.

I really liked this when I read it a long time ago (almost 20 years). Either it hasn't aged well, or I'm just a completely different person than I was back then. I thought Dougless (the main character) was so obnoxious. All she did was cry and talk about how things were different in regards to women, all the while letting men treat her like garbage. I don't care if she had a bit of growth near the end, when for pretty much the entire book I couldn't stand her.

And Nicholas is a piece of work. When he comes to the future, he is so sad that he is only remembered for his womanizing ways, when that's exactly who he is!!! And there was also a lot of hand waving instead of explaining how any of this was really happening. Needless to say, I won't be re-reading this in the future, and I'll probably be steering clear of romance novels in general because they're not my thing.

Original 5 star review:
This book is about a man and woman whose lives get intertwined even though they live centuries apart. I really liked the parts of the book that took place in the middle ages. This is one of my favorite books by Jude Deveraux.

When my friends and I turn soppy, as all do at one point or another, we discuss and recommend romance novels. I have been badgered for a few years to read this (I shudder to call it a novel) book.

First off, the plot is neither great or wretched it’s simply ‘ehhh.’ That feeling quickly changed to a bubbling rise of utter contempt and loathing for the “heroine.”

I had the misfortune of reading 50 Shades of Gray a few years back; but while I was a tad revolted by the woman’s stupidity - she did not drive me to such a fevered point of loathing as the character Dougless Montgomery has. Seriously, an American woman from Maine with that name... girl please!! Travel a bit.

I got to midway through chapter seven and lost it. I could read no more of this insipid rubbish.

Douglass is all that not just females but humanity in general should despise. She is a worthless, purely stupid, woe-is-me, nincompoop of such revolting proportions that I wonder if the purpose of this errr “novel” was just to inspire loathing.

Ye God’s! What a waste of paper.

I had never read any time-travel books until I read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon which I loved so this book never measured up to what I was expecting. I previously read The Mulberry Tree by Jude Deveraux which I enjoyed so I have mixed feelings about A Knight in Shining Armor. I know a lot of people loved this book but I was not one of them.

It took a long time for me to finish as I was just not that invested in the main character. Here's hoping that other books I have by Ms. Deveraux will be more to my liking.

Not sure why this is so popular. It's fun, I guess, but super light and the characters are not very realistic. The first time I tried to read it, I stopped a few pages in because the characters were so exaggerated. This time, I'm half way through and might quit. I was surprised at the sex scene because the lead-up hadn't convinced me it was coming. It might be ok for a chapter per day reading, but is too annoying to be read voraciously.

This book was ridiculously enjoyable. Not normally what I read but when a male friend recommended it to me way back when and lent me his copy, I read it and purchased my own copy which I do re-read on occasion.

It's perfect. Truly the cliche you'll laugh and cry book. I am dead jealous of how she pulled this story together in such a magical bundle.
