A short and quick read that made my mind hurt and jumped from different point of views. Shelley meets 21st Century robotics.

Not even sure how this ended up in my library queue, but figured I may as well read it if I had it.

The premise is intriguing enough and the more mysterious, Frankenstein meets AI feels very relevant. But I felt deeply uncomfortable with the treatment and framing of the transgendered character. What at first had me excited about representation turned into abject horror at the constant dead-naming and dialogue implying that the character was a modern day Frankenstein’s monster and/or a step away from the next point of evolution where humans don’t have bodies anymore?

It was weird. Wouldn’t recommend.

A rather brilliant mash-up of Frankenstein and Black-Mirror-ish AI.
