I love mystery novels. One big reason that I love them is because I love the fantasy world where the good guys always win and the bad guy always get caught. I love rooting for the good-guy cop or detective. The Quickie denied me that fun.

It started off great. Husband cheats on wife. Wife gets mad and decides to cheat back. Maybe not the best thought-out revenge - I prefer brutal confrontations - but I felt for this woman. She deserved a little romance and she got it. Then things fall apart. The husband finds out and attacks her lover, killing him in the struggle. As if that wasn't bad enough, the wife - Lauren - is a cop and is now assigned to the case.

It's an interesting premise and I was curious to see where it went. Where it goes is that Lauren starts
SpoilerTAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE
! Where's my good woman cop who risks everything to bring her husband to justice? Who is this terrible woman who is jeopardizing her job for no reason? I just, what? What is this? Where is this going?

I tried to keep reading to the end because I was initially invested, but I just could not do it. This was supposed to be a for-fun read with minimal substance and I wasn't having any fun. I could feel myself getting more and more upset as Lauren made terrible choice after terrible choice. In the end, it was too much and I had to give up after
Spoilera scene where she replaces evidence to make sure the killer isn't caught.

If the idea of a cop digging herself into a hole and doing bad things to protect a man who deserves nothing doesn't bother you, then maybe you'll enjoy this because it is an easy read. The first 120 pages only took me an hour to get through and the writing style is one that's sure to keep you turning the pages as long as you like the plot.

fast-paced

Not my favorite Patterson but a fast-paced story and a quick read.  The storyline was ok,  kind of stupid but it flew.  I read this book in less than 5 sittings over 2 days.  If you’re in the mood for a quickie (pun intended) this wouldn’t be a bad one to try.

Kept me hooked all the way through. I could barely put it down. Amazing read, and I highly recommend it!

:: 5 Thrilling Stars ::

My first thought after reading this book was “how have I never read a novel by James Patterson before?” WOW. This book was so good. It is suspenseful and thrilling from the very first page to the last. I had a very hard time putting it down and plan to read many more books by James Patterson in the future.

The story is about a woman named Lauren who learns a horrifying secret about her husband. He is a cheater and a murderer. But Lauren loves him and will do anything to keep him out of jail so she hides his secrets from everyone. But when more secrets come to light and continue to pile up around Lauren she has to make a choice. Save her husband from jail or go down with him.

This book is action-packed and thrilling. Simply put, it is one of the best thrillers I have ever read- and I have read quite a few! There are twists at every turn in this book and I could not put it down in fear that I would miss something good. If you haven’t read this one yet then I recommend you do so. It is VERY, VERY good.

I don't read James Patterson but this book I don't think represents his writing talents very well. It was a bit cliched and skim over parts that I would have liked to have been heightened. Her tampering with evidence and not getting caught was a bit disappointing to me and the ending was a little flat.

It was okay, he's written better stuff.

3.5 stars. I used this book to finish off an alphabet challenge. I needed a Q. Just like the title it was a quickie of a book. I love James Patterson books due to the length of the chapters. They are so short, you just fly. A homicide cop things her husband is having an affair. So she sleeps with a fellow cop to "get back at him". After they are "done" he goes outside and she sees her husband kill him. After this, it starts a chain of events of one misconception after another. It was a fun quick read. This was actually a time I would have wanted a longer book to get more character development.

Like most of his books, super quick read, I love those books where a chapter is two pages tops

so screwed up

There are so many twist and turns, you think really another one but the book keeps you on your toes. Then when you think it is winding up you remember hmm this was not worked out yet so you know that twist is coming.
