The first half of this book was sooooo slow. I almost gave up several times but I’m glad I stuck with it. The creepiness of the second half was worth it.

Scariest book I’ve ever read. Genuinely made me anxious and nervous and scared of the dark. But also much better than I was expecting and way better than it has any right to be. Only note might be that the protagonist is kind of characterless but the story is so intriguing and fast-paced that you’re often to scared to notice.

The paceing of the writting is smoth, the discribtions are vivid, and the mysteries and plot twist are even better then her previous works!
You can really tell that her writting is improving; she is an author to keep and eye on!

The book was a slog to get through for the first half and fairly a psychological horror, which made it a bit of a letdown when that unreliable narration piece just fully went away. Lifting the curse just seemed really simple and I don't feel the reasons it wasn't done before made a lot of sense to me. Literally what would you do with all your money if you can't even leave your property? Why would you even have kids and marry if you know they'll be cursed to die horribly?
