Coates crafts an atmosphere so tense and unnerving that I was hooked from start to finish, eager to uncover the next twist. If you're a zombie lore and horror fan, this novel is a must-read.

The atmosphere in this book was so creepy that I had to stop multiple times while reading because I couldn't bare the tension. And I enjoyed every second of reading it!
Interesting concept for the plot. A new take on the cursed land / haunted house that I haven't read before. Hated Margot at first - man, she was so whiny and fearful, I'm rather surprised she made it to the end AND solved the mystery. Also, book could have probably been about 50 pages shorter with another good edit - so many repetitive lines and lines that could have been made shorter and tighter. Also some typos that made it through: breaks instead of brakes, for example.

It would be unfair for me to rate this as while I was listening to the audiobook I was not only working which I normally do but also had a lot on my mind and a little sleep deprived so I had a hard time focusing despite the story being interesting and the narration being very good. When I was focused in I really enjoyed it, so it would at least be a 3 star but it would probably be higher if my attention didn’t wander. Probably should have stopped listening and tried again when I was in a better position to appreciate it, but I had nothing else to listen to at the time and I’m not working in silence, screw that.
