Interesting storyline but there was character involvement that left me wondering “why are you even here?”

yeah this just was not my cup of tea. overly wordy for no great reason besides just using big words and re-explaining repeatedly from different pov’s. not my fave
Not terrible but not amazing. I was entertained while reading and glad to go for a book outside of my usual genres. Docked a star for the repeated use of the term ‘virile’ to describe men.

2.5 stars from me because I really enjoyed the modern take of this thriller (genealogy research to connect to family is still so NEW!!) but there were way too many characters to keep track of. Also, should this have been two books?! I felt like there was so much more potential in the Henry and Cat storyline. And maybe a deeper dive on the women-living-to-serve-the-patriarchy analysis.

(Audiobook)
A terrible book about terrible people. A woman goes on a trip, then complains the whole time about being on the trip while slut-shaming and body-shaming all the women who joined her. In every way, Hannah is not a girl’s girl.
I guess there’s a message in there somewhere about “family”? I was beat over the head too many times with bad cliches, and I probably have a concussion from reading this book.
