I have to be honest; I was a little taken aback by the average for The Bachelorette Party by Sandra Block on Goodreads but as soon as I got to the first big twist, I fully understood the reason for this. This is OUT THERE folks, but I loved every dang minute of it. The tension that Block managed to create in these pages was bloody fantastic and just the is he or isn’t he guilty on top of what happens at the party? Chef’s kiss. 👨🏼🍳💋 I really can’t say I liked any of the characters all that much, but I will say I was surprised by one of them. I was not a fan at all for the longest time, and somehow things managed to turn out.
The audiobook for this one was a little meh for me, but I did enjoy Lexi Mae’s narration for the most part. She cannot do an Australian accent to save her life though, and I wish she would have just used her normal voice for Alex’s fiancé Jay. I also found myself wishing they had taken advantage of the podcast piece of the book and did some special sound effects, but it was a missed opportunity. I loved the back and forth between the present-day bachelorette party and the previous months with Alex’s investigation into the 666 Killer and whether the man convicted is actually him. It made for a very pacey read that flew by and kept me turning the pages. The end was mind blowing, and I never saw it coming.
Read this if you are looking for a popcorn thriller with plenty of blood, thrills, and side of serial killer.
Audiobook Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Bachelorette Party was a fun read for me! About halfway through, when I started to get confused about what was happening, it all clicked for me and I rather enjoyed where the story went.
Alex has some amazing friends. Friends who know her and what she loves, to the point where they rent a secluded cabin in the woods for her Bachelorette party. As events unravel in the present, the reader is provided with glimpses to past events that orient the reader in the plot. At times, it adds to the confusion of what is going on but then it helps you understand where the story is at and going.
I listened to the audiobook and I think the narrator did a great job with Alex's character. Some of the accents for other characters, though slightly off, were passable and did not take away from the narration or story for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and HighBridge Audio for the access to this mystery/thriller!

This book…I have so many mixed feelings on. Let’s start with what I liked— I liked our main character, even though I was a bit worried about her mental sanity with her relationship. I liked the investigation of a cold case storyline. I even liked her investigative journalism (though it was not always ethical). Sadly, I think the list of things I didn’t like might be larger than what I liked. I didn’t like how I felt like the author kept throwing more twists, not because they added to the story, but just to try to shock the reader. I also hated all the supporting characters. Jay, Melody, Lainey, Greg— none of them felt like good people! And lastly, the big reveal of the bachelorette party. I was MAD reading this…like what did I just read. That storyline was such a letdown and honestly, psychotic of her friends.
The Bachelorette Party by Sandra Block
I rated this 2 stars.
I couldn’t. Very random order of events that were unnecessary, things said but not shown, and the ending…
Thank you, NetGalley and Penzler Publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

A popcorn thriller that did offer many chances to figure out “whodunit”. Alex, embarking on marriage by celebrating with friends for a bachelorette party weekend is greeted with reliving the crimes of her favorite serial unaliver. Truths and myths blend together as she tries to figure out what is real and fake. An easy listen that kept me entertained (the female narrator was a great fit) but not my favorite thriller-the plot got somewhat convoluted and some twists I was able to predict. Thanks to the author, NetGalley and High Bridge Audio for the opportunity to listen-thoughts are honest and voluntary.
This was a wild captivating story- full of twists I didn’t see coming. The girls said it would be an adventure for Alex’s bachelorette party and I can say it was a terrifying adventure!! It was not scary just thrilling, mystery, twisty. The book is told in dual timeline of present and 6 months earlier. If you love true crime, mystery podcast, murder mysteries or a good engaging thriller this book is perfect.
