It's not my favorite Christina Lauren book, but I think that it really helped that I read this book directly after a romcom that I hated (The Summer We Ran 👎🏼)...
Tate and Sam meet as young adults in London, him travelling with Grandpa and her with Grandma. They're all staying at the same hotel and end up spending all their days travelling together and the young couple obvi fall in love. But she's the out-of-the-public-eye daughter of famous actor Ian Butler and somehow the press ends up finding and outing her there. (That's the first whole half of the book.) I actually enjoyed this part more than I thought I would considering they're 18 & 21. -1 whole ⭐ for them having sex outside in the hotel garden though. That scene was SUPER cringey for me and I hated it.
Fast-forward 14 years with them never speaking again and Tate is now a famous actress who takes a role (along with her estranged father) that's written by none other than our London mystery man. Bonus points for that filming taking place on a secluded farm where all the filmmakers stay, giving the rest of the book very summer camp vibes. I loved the leading man in the movie, their MUAs, and all the grandparents. I didn't love the father issues, nor that those weren't resolved in Tate just telling him to f-off like she should've, but otherwise cute enough in the wrap-up.
