3.5 stars

This book was full of wonky, interesting characters and classic Alice Winters humor. Miles enlists the demon Havoc's help for a case brought to him by paranormal police. As they work the case we learn of the long history miles and Havoc have that spans hundreds of years. Things begin to get physical between them, but there was no defining moment of romance between them. It felt as though Alice Winters was struggling to balance the romance with the action of the plot. While I still loved the humor I'm in no great rush to read the second book. Unless that book focuses on Sam because Sam should totally have his own book. ❤️

This was Fun!
The audio book is narrated by Greg Boudreaux
Miles is the strongest mage alive, his familiar is a demon named Havoc together they have to solve a mystery of deaths that is tied to their pasts. If they don't they could be next.

I liked listening to this book, the narrator did a fine job of portraying the characters. Miles and Havoc are op'ed characters( overpowered) and i found that to be okay in the context of the book because its meant to be action-comedy. Sometimes i felt that the humour was not needed and that could make readers get tired of the book. The secondary characters were interesting and added more fun to the book. Just a tiny bit of forgetting who is who sometimes.
Overall though i recommend the audio book its a good listen. Just make sure you have your headphones on because it does get hot and heavy in some scenes.

What a fun read!

This was a great take on the paranormal genre. Loved the interactions between Miles and Havok, especially when they were able to be vulnerable. It made the funny parts even funnier.

This book is quite mediocre. The premise was interesting but the excitation was not very exciting.

I loved Alice Winters other novel 'How to Vex a Vampire' so I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy this novel.

The romance comes out of nowhere. This is made worse by the fact the protagonist and love interest have known each other for hundreds of years. Why now!?

The ending was very abrupt and not satisfying. The next book continues the story I believe, however this book feels unfinished.

The middle of the book is soggy. Plot points feel very disconnected and all in all where not very interesting. A lot happens but their isn't much build up to plot points so it feels cheap. Maybe the pacing is off.

TLDR: I'm not continuing with the series.

SIGHHHH I LOVE WITTY CHARACTER
THIS BOOK IS PEAK COMEDY
