I have read this book a few times now and I still laugh my head off everytime I read it. The start is a good clues as to how much this book will make you pee yourself laughing! In this book we meet Miles, a mage, and Havoc, a demon. They are investigating the strange deaths happening, they lead them to a horrible event that happened in their past.

Miles is just a riot. The first scene when the detectives come in the shop is hilarious, his Happy Endings conversation with them is so odd and funny! You get a sense of what kind of person Miles is early on. He has been through a lot in his life and he came out of it all so much stronger. You can see his love for Havoc straight away and their relationship is just amazing from the start. They have know each other for hundreds of years and they know each other inside and out. Miles shows us what a powerful mage he is, and his first interaction with Havoc in the book shows us their dynamic straight away.

Havoc is a demon who can transform into a Raven. He has a dark sense of humour and loves it when he gets to kick some butt! I love how he interacts with Miles, and I loved the flashbacks to their past together. They were a great way to show us how they met, and also what they dynamic was to begin with. Havoc has evolved so much since his first encounter with Miles. He loved to see Miles suffer to begin with, then we see him come to change that view. He will do anything to protect Miles when here really needs him.

Miles and Havoc have your typical enemies-to-lovers thing going on. It's one of my favourite tropes and it's done really well here. I loved all the secondary characters, especially Sam and Iya. It was great learning about all the different forms of magic and magical creatures in this book, they were all explained well so you don't get lost. The events flowed well, and it was fun being along for the ride with them. As the book progresses, we get to see what Geoff, Miles old mentor, is really upto. This is all because of Miles power, and that Geoff will go to any lengths, even from beyond the grave, to do them!

This is a great insight into an Alice Winter book, and all are so worth a read. Especially the follow on from this, we finally get to see how Geoff returned, and what his master plan is. They are both so worth a read.

description

That is how my actual face looked as I was reading this book. Holy shit was it ever funny!

Alice Winters completely nailed it with this one! It was my first time reading anything written by her and she did not disappoint! Happy Endings centers around Milliant - Miles - and his demon BFF Havoc. The police come looking for Miles for his help: a bunch of people were found dead in different districts and they all seemed to be killed at the exact same time. With his merry band of friends, including a werewolf, a witch, some strange council members, a forest spirit, and a demon with a huge naked penis, Miles and Havoc do their best to figure out what has been going on and who has been killing people in the name of an extinct organization.

The book being written from Miles' point of view was the best decision. His inner monologues honestly had me laughing out loud. At one point, my husband agreed that I would be like Havoc as I would most definitely hide holes in the wall with copy paper.

I mean... I can't say that he's wrong...

I was expecting more M/M sex than there was, but what the book lacked in hot, romantic scenes, it made up for in humor.

Happy Endings by Alice Winters

Love!!!!!

1st read 4-6-20
I love Miles and Havoc, but mostly Miles. I loved Sam and Ija. HA! Ija made Sam blush so hard. Loved it. Miles was so powerful. I loved seeing his humanness, even if Havoc thought he was a weak human. I loved all of the friends and secondary characters. I loved the illusions. Hello opening scene! Made me laugh so hard. Alice Winters is quickly becoming my favorite!

Humorously brilliant

I spent quite a bit of this book chuckling, the banter and griping between Miles and Havoc was excellent communication as they realise that the relationship they already have could be deeper. I can't wait for the next book in the series as Alice Winters does it again a couple of characters that manage to mix action, adventure and baffling humour into a successful partnership.

DID NOT FINISH

The only happy ending was me DNFing. I don’t know why I even bother with this author. The humor isn’t that funny, the characters were shite, and I had to call a spade a spade when they have the worst seggs scene and only because the LI is horny because he hasn’t had segs in 13 days. Wow I’m swooning….

DID NOT FINISH: 65%

It might just be a me problem, but this book is so disjointed I can't enjoy it.

The world building is confusing, it almost felt like there was a prequel I missed or something. And the relationship between Miles and Havoc had so little build up. I understand that they've known each other for hundreds of years, but we see them for a couple chapters before they start banging. We don't really get to see that relationship at all we just get told repeatedly that they have history.

I might try to re-read another time because I am curious about Miles, but I just can't force myself to continue right now.
