“The snow may fall, but the sun also rises”

This was sooo good, everything I hoped for & more. It gave so much insight into so many pieces of the original Hunger Games trilogy & provided a much more human view of Panem.

I deeply appreciated the emphasis on the fact that revolution is not a one-off event, and that there are many failed attempts before someone is in the right place at the right time with an army at their back for it to succeed. I think that the concept of it reminds me a lot of Hadestown, where the theme is that revolution and change is hard and most people don't make it and you don't succeed. And you sing it again anyway. Because one day you do change what is inevitable and it's the tragedies and pain that came before that makes it possible. I think releasing a book about propaganda and the ways that those in power manipulate what we believe at this moment in time in US history is a power move. Just the idea of even with this manipulation, there are those fighting against it and will be for generations. A really good book, with lots to think about.

This book hit way too close to home right now with what's going on politically. It was an amazing read and I'm going to continue on with the Hunger Games series, but omfg. I had to put it down at times to do some deep breathing and recenter. I also teared up so hard during it and after.

It was okay, not as well-written as the others. Felt a lot like a rushed job with a lot of fan service. Collins is great with plots but the dialogue and pacing felt stiff and unrealistic.
