Wow was this book a doozy! Like many others, I couldn't help the tears that came to my eyes during the latter half of this book.

There were so many characters in this book (Beetee, Mags, Wiress, Effie) from the others, which explained a lot of the connections Haymitch has.

I have a new empathy for Effie because it almost feels like she's been forced to join The Hunger Games now.

So much grief. It was not a lie about how much propaganda was going to be in this book.

I am devastated. Gutted. I hurt even though I knew what would happen. A beautifully brutal picture of how propaganda and media can be twisted and abused to the government’s will. I don’t think it’s an accident she released this now.

Suzanne Collins is a genius. There are no two ways about it. I wish she didn’t have to tell this story but I’m glad that, of anybody, we got to hear it from her. We are living in a world filled with the grossest of propaganda, lies are spread like wildfire, and the innocent are slaughtered daily. The Hunger Games is an excellent, thought-provoking and utterly gut-wrenching reflection of our society and should be mandatory reading.

I took a whole heap of notes, and there is so much more I could say outside of those, but I would give it away, so I just say: read Sunrise on the Reaping, don’t trust the media, and remember that no one killing innocent children is the good guy.

Haymitch, my little alcoholic rascal. Really loved his story and my heart breaks for him! Suzanne Collins only knows how to write page turners.
