The long flashback to Caspian and the amount of time they spend traipsing through the woods makes the pacing really weird on this one but damn CS Lewis went off with "the Pevensies return a year later to find that 1300 years have passed and their kingdom is both terribly familiar and terribly unfamiliar" of it all

***3 1/2 STARS***
I've liked this one the best so far. It was really cool and interesting to hear all about Caspian's story. This book felt a lot different from the others, but it's difficult to describe how. Like, The Horse and His Boy was a different setting and everything, but it still felt part of Narnia. This felt very different from that. I liked it though. It wasn't perfect and there were a lot of loose ends, but it was good.

I wonder: If I read it when I was a child, would I have given it 5 stars?

The nicest part about this book for me was the world building aspect, even though it was scarce, it was better than nothing and added just enough texture to the Narnian lore to keep me interested in reading on.

One thing I found particularly unappealing about this novel was the constant barrage of sexist tropes aimed at Susan and Lucy. While I understand that that was the type of posh children's speak of the era, it does get a little bit grating and whether those where his views or not, it does make you question the authors morals, but I'll wait until reading [The Screwtape Letters|8130077] before passing any judgement on that front.

Besides that, there's not a whole lot to say about this book that I haven't already mentioned in the reviews of the preceding books in [The Chronicles Of Narnia|11127]. They're easy reads with a little bit of Christian morality that keep things interesting.
