Angie is enjoying this favorite as well. I laughed this afternoon when I was reading to her during my lunch hour because Angie exclaimed, "ooooh I hate [insert character]!"

It's been so long since I've read this, but I really do enjoy this series.

Read this when I was around 8 and now at 49. I still liked it a lot, although there was some "faulty" logic things that distracted me. Still great, standard fantasy that you should be reading to your kids. I plan on reading the next 3 books, though I was surprised that this one didn't end with a cliffhanger, I thought I remembered it being one overarching story with the cauldron at it's center. I was surprised this one ended so well, that it could be read on it's own. After I'm done with the series I'm going to watch the Disney "Black Cauldron" movie, I'm curious how close it will be to the book.

It was "ok", alot of useless chit-chat, but decent storyline. A middle grade book. Had some Halloween vibes

I liked this one better than the first book. It was more exciting. The plot was more thought out and developed. The moral lessons were incorporated into the story well. It also had more death and sacrifice in it than the first one, which also can make for a deeper story. Although the adventurers (Taran and his friends) were not actually knights, I'd say it's a good book for people who enjoy stories about knights. The concepts of honor and pride were important topics in this story.

A good read, and the climactic events were much more satisfying than in The Book of Three. Although I did see a couple of them coming. Still planning to finish the series, as see how Taran makes out at the end.

Taran's adventures continue in another fantastical tale that I believe aims to define heroics for young adults. It is a great story that is an easy read. It has great moments where Taran and the other characters really mature. Big decision have to be made, and the story does a good job of detailing Taran going through them. I feel it also opens up the discussion about gender roles and trying to break through them. Great book and very entertaining.

It really shouldn't have taken as long as it did to read this book, but there was an awful lot on my plate.
I remember seeing the movie The Black Cauldron as a kid, and I had no idea it was originally a book, let alone a series. As soon as I saw it, random though it was, I had to read it. Though it wasn't what I remember the movie being, I still appreciated it for what it was.

Second book in a fantastic series, another favorite from when I was a child. Apparently it was made into an animated movie at some point, but I haven't seen it yet. Highly recommended, but only if you've read the first one! A bit more predictable than The Book of Three perhaps, but quite enjoyable!
