Very good. 300 page mark was brill but after that, the book became tiring. It was very slow and the intruigness was gone. I would like to point out that i did enjoy the fact that we got to see from mathews point a view too and this was brilliant.

I don’t like that this book pretends to have this independent woman character who likes to do things with genuine hard work, who’s actions literally say the exact opposite.
This is the best book I have ever read.
"Somewhere in the center of my soul, a rusty chain began to unwind. It free itself, link by link, from where it had rested unobserved, waiting for him."
This book transcends every expectation I had. Every single detail is handled with such expert care, from the descriptions of wine to the literal biology lessons, Deborah Harkness proves herself to be a master on every topic in this book. This book is academia in its truest form. Harkness literally creates a biological description of the DNA of a witch. I was on the floor amazed at how smart this book is.
The romance in this book is unlike anything I have ever experienced. It is warm and rich and heartbreaking and beautiful. I felt their love for each other bleed off the pages. I felt their yearning and their desires. This book has virtually no smut, and that somehow made the romance feel even more real. You are enchanted by the soft grazing of their hands and the gentle touches of their cheeks and the longing gazes. You needed no more proof that they are soulmates, they simply are.
The worldbuilding is simply masterful. It is exceptional beyond compare and I cannot begin to imagine how many years went into making this story. The history, the science, everything, is so painstakingly precise. The world is painted in such a clear and deep way that the idea of witches daemons and vampires living amongst us right now sounds plausible.
Diana is brilliant and resolute and kind. She is the woman I aspire to be every day. Matthew is confident and intense and meticulous. He is a man crafted over 1500 years who allowed every passing day to shape him and mold him into a strong and multifaceted genius.
My love for this story is indescribable. Every moment felt purposeful and important. Every character was written perfectly. Every setting was rich and enchanting. I feel as though this book was written for me. As with all five-star ratings, this book changed my life, it has become a part of me. I will think about it every day.
