This is a really sweet friendship story that draws together a lot of cultural references between the two girls, flipping some stereotypes and modeling how young adolescents might talk through any questions or confusion they have about each other's culture. Specifically, both girls are Chinese but one is more traditional than the other, so culturally they are not as close as one might think.
I love the illustrations by Wang and the story was also great. A good example of inclusivity at a time when many youngsters might be jealous of their social standing. Also a great example of being responsible when you do something wrong and the potential ease of forgiveness. Really great!
First Second :01 has such great novels!! Again the artwork was great and the characters were so relatable. This is a story that feels like it will stick around for a while because the moral in back of the story is amazing! One everyone should read!!

I loved the artwork in the book! All of the characters were very likable and there was a happy story. I liked how each of the characters taught the other how to expand their interests and try new things. The book also covered more serious issues about brain tumors. I liked both of the main characters and their friendship was adorable.
Una lectura sencilla pero muy bonita, el dibujo es muy cuqui y la relación de amistad entre las dos protagonistas, preciosa.
No sabia que estava basat en l'infància de la Jen Wang. No m'esperava aquesta història. M'ha deixat planxadíssima. És molt bona aquesta noia.
