So unnecessary! The Crown and The Heir could have easily been one 500 page book following the main character’s selection. However, The original Selection series was stretched to the max with three books so I really shouldn’t expect much. But yeah, this was bad. The main character lost all the “growth” she was showing at the end of The Heir. She was still bratty, spoiled, and entitled. The winner of her selection was SO obvious and SO instalovey. Also, I totally knew the gay twist, nothing was a surprise to me, everything was obvious... and i’m an OBLIVIOUS reader. So yeah, it was bad. Hindsight is 20/20, kinda wish I never read these books, but it’s over now!

my heart was racing the whole time, I had no idea who she would choose, but I am not disappointed with the ending

Where the hell did Eadlyn’s self absorbed attitude go? I’m genuinely confused at how a person can change so drastically in one book.

For once in my life I was able to predict an ending, which says a lot considering I’m complete garbage at deducing things like this. To anyone who knows what ensued in the last fifteen pages or so, I saw it coming from the moment Eadlyn began making small hints at the way a certain someone was looking at her in The Heir.

Although I am happy with the way things concluded for Eadlyn, I’m almost disappointed that I was able to figure out her partner when Kiera Cass was obviously trying to make it subtle.

The suitors were all quite charming. They’d have to be what made this book for me. Henri was absolutely the sweetest character in The Selection series, and seeing him come in with a translator was enough to have me love him from the get-go.

The way Henri acted near the ending? If that wasn’t the cutest, most selfless thing a person could do than I don’t know what is. His lack of english made the moment even sweeter.

Now let me put it out there, I was about a thousand times happier for Hale and Ean than I was feeling for Eadlyn. I couldn’t get over her attitude in The Heir, even though it was considerably better in The Crown.

The plot wasn’t really slow, just uneventful compared to America’s selection. There are no major plot points that come back to me when I think on this book. Everything scene was equally written and paced, which to me is both a good and bad thing. A few stand out moments could have made this book a lot better.

Finally I will say that America’s selection was far greater than Eadlyn’s. The conclusion to her story was still enjoyable... I want to see that wedding.

I hate that I had to know what happened. Though I was happy with the outcome, the writing is not up to par. It was insanely cheesy (but most of that was the audiobook narrator). A lot of ideas were not fully evolved which reflected poorly overall. At last it is finished.

Here comes the finish to another series. RIP The Selection (2012-2016). So, lets start with the positive stuff. I really enjoyed this book, it was so easy to read - the chapters were short, and it's only 250 pages, you can finish it for a day or two. Overall, I liked the plot, even though I was rooting for another suitor (*cough*Kile*cough). And now from the negative side. This book was maybe too short and most importanly I felt like it was rushed. Was Mrs Cass in a hurry? The last chapters felt like she was going to miss the deadline for her book: "Oh, I have to hand this book to the publishers tomorrow. Let's just write eveything I have to say in 10 pages. I'm sure no one will notice". Not cool, Cass. Definetly not cool. You should've taken your time for that ending.
That's that. I'm giving the book 3.5/5 stars because I'm feeling good and all positive today.
