abigailbat's review against another edition
I picked up this audiobook of essays by Irish comedian Maeve Higgins because she is always my favorite voice on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and I honestly just wanted to listen to her read to me for several hours. A mix of humorous and more serious essays, her book tackles body image, immigration, life as a comedian and more. I enjoyed it, although I will say that I still prefer to hear her voice in my podcast listening.

I discovered Maeve Higgins from the NPR show Wait Wait Don't Tell Me where she regularly seems to have no idea what is going on but says everything in such a charming accent that you can't help but fall in love. I listened to this as an audiobook and really enjoyed it. She has a longer essay about her short lived immigrant podcast. It describes the chaos that unfolded right after Trump was inaugurated and it almost seems quaint compared to the horrors of today. I'd recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed Mindy Kaling's or Tina Fey's book.

I really appreciated these essays. Although I'm sure the author is a talented comedian, what I found in this book are thoughtful pieces about introspection, our bodies, social media, romance, immigration, and more. I will look forward to reading her future articles and books.

Perhaps more of a 4.5, but I was in a perfect mood for this and I found her reading delightful. I really enjoyed listening to this.

Brilliant at times, tedious at others. Love her accent on the audiobook.
