This was tough, but necessary. Certainly one of those stories that will change the way you look at life and the world around you. Ivan Ilych died so we can live.

It feels blasphemous to write, but I didn’t have a life-changing moment reading this book. Far from it. It’s easy to see why it’s so highly praised and lauded, but some of that recognition may have contributed to a proliferation of the themes and ideas explored in the book. I wonder if it means that I haven’t read it closely enough or if others need to read more contemporary/recent works.
