I'm thoroughly invested in these new characters. Aphra, 0-0-0, and BT-1 are a hell of a team.

With Thanoth practically wearing Sherlock Holmes' hat, I suspect he knows more than he is letting on..

This book (kinda) picks up where the last issues have left off. Vader has learned that the Emperor has kept a secret from him - that he had not killed Padme and that she had delivered a son to him. Now Vader wants to find Luke and he starts in Tatooine. There he uses the Force and finds out exactly the transaction that happened between the Bounty Hunter and Luke.

This is not something Vader wants the Emperor to be aware of right now that Vader continues on with his side project for the time being - building himself an army of droids. He has the continued help of Aphra and her murderous droids, Triple-Zero and BT-1.

When I first started with this series, I was a bit apprehensive because I honestly thought most of this story would contain some sort of fluff or another but it has not happened. In fact, Vader's character is being fleshed out a bit more and we see how his interactions with others add to some of his character. This series gives us various facets to a very complex character and gives a view into what exactly Vader was up inbetween episodes IV and V.

This part of the series was a bit slow and I saw more of Aphra than I actually did of Vader but we also see that Vader's hand is in this regardless of whether his appears or not. One has to be careful especially when you are already on the Emperor's shit list and thus anything you do has to be done behind his back and that is what exactly Vader is doing.

Still a very interesting read and one I recommend to any fan of Star Wars.
