I liked it almost as much as the first volume. I think, more than anything, I am rating this based on an emotional response - I like Dr. Aphra and Vader's relationship, I like the juxtaposition of the flashbacks, I like how Vader's desperately trying to uncover the secret behind Padme's death. It's also an interesting time for Darth Vader's character because he's not the Vader we saw in A New Hope anymore, but he is not yet the Vader we see in Return of the Jedi either. He's in this grey in between, and I think that's interesting to see.

It’s easy to just love this series because of Dr. “best SW character ever” Aphra but Gillen actually manages to make the supporting cast colorful and interesting, from weaselly snitches and gimmicky gangsters to ambitious imperials all out to GET ONE OVER on our favorite Dark Lord.
Funny thing: callbacks to the prequels are always laden with momentous import but then if you actually REMEMBER the prequels it’s like LOL these comics are so much better.

Vader once again covers his tracks with murder! It’s interesting to see people react to him in these comics. Much less fear than expected. They have no appreciation for the force much to mine and Vader’s annoyance. This particular comic wasn’t my favorite but I’m sure it will lead to greater moments in the story! (Anakin finding Padmé’s tomb?)

This was a slow ride. I didn’t feel like the story moved along well, and I wasn’t real impressed with the new character, Dr. Aphra.
