Finally a good thriller cover to cover! One of my favorite reads of the year.

DNF at chapter 10 for being absolutely dull.

Really enjoyable actually, it was genuinely more twisty than most thrillers I've read lately.

i didn’t find this book to be nearly as exciting or surprising as the top reviews suggested it would be, which was a bummer because the description had a lot of promise.

maybe i’ve just read too many thrillers… and because of that, the surprises and twists were easy to figure out pretty early on in the book.

still an enjoyable read up until the big reveal — i just wish there had been a bigger payoff.

No stone was left unturned. Very intricate plot. At times the timeline skipping around was challenging to follow.

It's been a while since a murder mystery/thriller's ending has really surprised me, but this one did. There are 2 mysteries for the reader to solve - Charlotte's murder for which Danny is wrongfully imprisoned (if you ask anyone in his family other than his brother Matt who saw him that night!) and the murder of everyone else in Matt and Danny's immediate family, which might just be a gas leak freak accident, but some unusual things about the accident have gotten the attention of the FBI. The story alternates POVs for each member of the Pines family, so the reader gets to witness the events leading up to the deaths from the victims' POVs before the tragedy, while Matt and FBI Agent Keller are trying to solve what happened in the present. So many books in this genre have become predictable, but I wasn't sure how this one would go until the very end! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves murder mysteries!

4.5 stars rounded down. This was really good but not quite a 5 star for me. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Edit: bumping to a 5 star because I really enjoyed this and still think about it a year later
