I read this because it was chosen by one of my book clubs. It was okay. My expectations were pretty average for this book and that's where it ended up landing. Just average. Yet another mystery thriller I can recommend to people who read them, nothing mind boggling, just a casual easy read in my opinion.
It was okay. I read this mostly on audiobook. I feel like it was predictable, so not my favorite.

The idea of losing your entire family all at once is horrifying and gut wrenching and makes this one a little harder to read. It happens on the first few pages and yet every time we are reminded about the children it hurts your heart. This is impeccably crafted, there is so much nuance and depth in the characters and so much going on it the plot all at once but it never feels like too much. The pacing is perfect, with little reveals and twists peppered throughout leading up to the big reveal at the finale. The only thing keeping me from a full 5 stars here is the perhaps problematic Mexican representation… I am not Mexican myself but a few of the characterizations felt uncomfy to me. Definitely seek out own-voices readers/reviewers and see their takes on that
Such a good book. Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time reading it. I never could have guessed who was behind the murders.
I liked how Keller was in this book, almost like a follow up to night shift……as always a great suspense thriller, twists, turns and endings you don’t see coming
Alex is wonderful at telling past and present timelines, I really liked how every character had both past and present, felt like you really got to know them
