i can see why this inspired tolerate it 😀😀

anyway i thought it was interesting but not groundbreaking or anything. i saw one of the plot twists coming and the other was very underwhelming but the story itself was interesting enough

also maxim is so toxic and he annoys me 😒 the main character deserved better she’s too young to know how awful her situation was and she shouldn’t have been roped into everything

Mrs. de Winter is one of the most annoying narrators I’ve ever read in my life. She is so in her head and has such an active imagination, on my life I swear 20% of the book was her imagining conversations and interactions that don’t happen. And she’s so naive and meek and the type of person who lets others walk all over her, she’s exactly the type of person I can’t stand.

I feel like so many problems would’ve been solved if they just fired Mrs. Danvers. If it was me her ass would’ve been kicked out immediately after what happened at the ball. That woman needs therapy.

However, the book became much less insufferable after the twist and I was actually enjoying the last third. I also thought the ending was really good. The only reason I can’t bring myself to give this a full 4 stars is because of how annoyed the first half made me.

Edit: As much as the first half of the book annoyed me and my complaints about Mrs. de Winter, I’ve thought of this story many times since I’ve completed it and it truly was a griping story that I think is deserving of its title as a classic.

all I can think of is why would a baby angel like Taylor Swift ENJOY THIS TRAIN WRECK OF A BOOK!?!? I hate Maxim so much, main was annoying but young and manipulated, I literally cannot. WHY. This book is NOT romantic suspense, it is in fact a thriller. There is nothing romantic about it, it’s absolutely chilling. Rebecca was my favorite character. but yeah it’s good literature so 4 stars🙄 edit: yeah I changed my mind this book is so out dated and bad that in good conscious I’m bumping it down to a 3.5, it’s only that high because of Tay✋🏼
