The Hound of the Baskervilles, like Doyle's previous Sherlock Holmes stories, is riveting. The arching plot-line, coming together in the conclusive last high-peaked moment, is suspenseful and unexpected. This book has interesting well-developed characters, including the familiar Dr Watson and Sherlock Holmes himself, which fit into the cleverly versed conversations, and the detailed and described settings. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle paints each chapter vividly and sets the scene for excitement. Personally, as a growing fan of Sherlock Holmes, on the page and on the television, these books are brilliant.
