Really, unbearably short. Not well developed, not well written. The only good part was that it was set in Scotland

The FMC is in her 30s or 40s but she comes across like a child.  Who moves to a different t country and breaks into then remodels a house just because a letter said it belongs as to her!?! She doesn't speak to the attorney handling the estate, just packs up and moves in. Then is genuinely shocked when she is evicted for basically squatting. This is the logic of a small child not a grown adult. But of course it all works out with a bug tartan bow.

This was a cute Christmas story. I didn't care if it was like a Hallmark movie because that's what I live for at Christmas.

Melissa finds out her husband is cheating. He wants everything in the divorce. She finds out she inherited a house in Scotland so at the airport she finds her soon to be ex-husbands at the airport going to Scotland as well. You get the point but this Christmas romance was adorable.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

My first novella and it did not disappoint. While I felt some of the events were a bit far fetched, it still remained cute. I enjoyed Melissa and her optimism towards life despite of everything that happened to her.

“and when a handsome man in a kilt beckons, you follow…”

It was a very rainy week and the temperature outside is unbelievably cold, even for a mediterranean country. despite everything, I was only looking forward to a warm and fluffy Christmas romance because it is the season, duh.

Melissa, the female main character, was blessed to inherit a magnificent estate in the Highlands after receiving life-altering news from her husband, or rather, ex-husband. she relocated from Boston to Europe in search of a better future and met her husband's divorce attorney who's accessorily her new hot Highlands neighbor-lumberjack halfway there..

to sum it up succinctly and concisely, this book was both easy and quick, and it worked perfectly as a plate cleanser with the perfect dose of Scottish folklore and little romance.

many thanks to NetGalley for providing an arc in exchange of an honest review!

A light yet engaging novella, Highlands Christmas is just what the holiday season ordered. It would make a wonderful gift for any book lover on your list, this year and every year.

Meet Melissa. Her husband just filed for divorce (what a Scrooge!) but she gets a letter in the mail with some good news. It says she’s inherited a house in Scotland. She sees this as the universe handing her the perfect opportunity for a fresh start! While at the airport, she meets and connects with a man travelling home to Scotland. What she doesn’t know is this man is her future ex-husband’s divorce attorney. Will her fresh start be threatened if all comes to light?!

I really enjoyed how untypical this Christmas romance was. I’m a self-proclaimed Queen of Christmas, so I’m a tad biased, but this book was a holiday moment! A holiday romcom filled with holiday merriment, this really helped me to get in the Christmas spirit bright and early. I also admired how for a novella, you didn’t feel rushed and Parrish didn’t try to fit too much material into the story. The words spoke for themselves, which really made this a special read.

When Melissa finds her husband is leaving her at Christmas, she also finds she has inherited a home in Scotland from a long lost relative……Will this end the way we think it will?
Super cute little Christmas novella set in Scotland. Of course it had all the whimsy and magic that would happen on a Hallmark movie. We all know in real life these things would never happen but they do give us all the warm feelings in this book.
I heartily recommend this book for a Happy Christmas read!

3.5 rounded up.

This was a fun starting over holiday romance that sees Melissa, an American woman recently separated and going through a divorce travelling to the Scottish Highlands when she gets a call about inheriting a house there. Full of a cast of heartwarming secondary characters and a charming lawyer, Colin who turns out to be one of her ex's divorce lawyers. I really enjoyed all the Scottish holiday traditions and the touch of magic. A sweet, feel-good holiday novella and I look forward to reading more about Melissa and Colin in the next book. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
