My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Very amateurish writing style as if writing for a child or screenplay for children’s programming or a bad Hallmark movie. Almost a daydream-like unrealistic quality. For instance, how does this character think she can just move to the UK without a visa just because she magically inherits a house from a long lost uncle, Jane Eyre-style, at the same time as her husband demands a divorce and that she remove herself from their marital home? Also, terrible name for the dog.

How cute was this book! It was exactly what I needed on a hot July afternoon, where my brain was too hot to read anything that made me think too much.
I loved how fast paced the story progressed, wasting no time on too long an exposition and jumping right into the action. I’m thankful for my many years of watching Outlander that lead me to be able to pronounce all the Scottish accented dialogue and Gaelic one-liners.
This was exactly what it needed to be, which is a warm and cozy story with mild romance and heartwarming self-discovery.

There's immediate chemistry with the love interest after some opening drama, and the story reads like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. The Scottish culture being showcased is a little on the nose, but that's to be expected with this kind of story, and the characters were definitely likeable.
There are some inconsistencies - She rents a car at the beginning and is still driving one werks later .. is it the same car? She turns down a purchase in a store, and then is wearing the shoes she said no to later. - but they're minor and don't make a big impact on the story.
It's a super short read and the whole thing moves really fast because of that. It has exactly the storybook ending you'd expect, and leaves you will all the holiday warmth of a whirlwind Christmas romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Super super quick Christmas novella about a woman blindsided by her husband asking for a divorce and then finding out she inherited a house in Scotland. Melissa decides to start over in Scotland and while traveling from Boston she meets her soon to be ex husband’s lawyer on the plane. Little did she know she was going to his hometown and his presence wasn’t going away.
While I enjoyed the story I really would like to see this be a full length story or even a longer novella because I wanted more background on Colin and on Melissa and how they’re connected. Everything happened so fast it was over before it even go started.
Thank you publishers and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

This is a cute, short Christmas story. It is all about new beginnings and the importance of loved ones.
On Thanksgiving, Melissa's husband tells her he wants to end their marriage - and that she must move out so his girlfriend can move in…
As it happens, Melissa receives a letter stating she inherited a house in Scotland. She decides to visit with the hope of fixing up the home to live there. On her travels, she meets Colin, who happens to be her husband's lawyer. He is from Scotland and is going back for a visit.
Melissa and Colin keep encountering each other as Colin's family is very active in the community. As Melissa thinks about the future, she keeps envisioning Scotland… and Colin.

A cute little Scottish Christmas special! Not a very long book but the author does a good job at giving enough back story and telling the journey that it doesn’t really matter.
