An in depth look at 1- just how common trauma is in the US (and other places but this mostly focuses on a US-Canada context), 2-the treatments being developed to treat trauma more effectively, and 3-the ways in which trauma manifests physically and not just mentally. While you are reading this, you will be confronted with a lot of difficult things, and it does include trauma that comes from people who did the horrific thing, not just experienced them (everything involving every Vietnam veteran in this book seemed to revolve around the horrific things the soldiers did in Vietnam). This book is probably most helpful to those in the field of trauma recovery, as a lot of the treatments discussed aren't really things that the average person can do on their own.

I think it's also important to know that this author has been accused of mistreating employees, and if you want to avoid that, here you go. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/03/07/allegations-employee-mistreatment-roil-renowned-trauma-center/sWW13agQDY9B9A1rt9eqnK/story.html

To me, someone who isn't dealing with (C)PTSD, overall very informative; some chapters more than others. And if I take anything from this book, it's that I really should work on doing yoga regulary because there are only benefits from doing it.

I wouldn't recommend this to people who can't or don't want to read about anything that comes to mind in regards to child abuse. Some of the patients' stories are harrowing and I can easily see how this could be very triggering.

If you’re looking to learn a lot of trauma and therapy, this is a great book. It can be pretty upsetting though, given that most chapters feature 1-2 case stories about horrifyingly traumatic events.
