I loved this one! Books about food and immigrant experiences are always my favourite. But I also loved how all the characters and their stories were linked. I wish I could visit the Hungry Heart Row.

I've been reading this for over three weeks and I've picked it up twice and even then it was only because I wanted something lighter to read at night. I just have no desire at all to read this. Of the first two stories I read the first one was mediocre and the second one was so unexpected

I don't have much to say other than I think anthologies aren't my thing. It takes me far too long to get into the story and I expect a lot from the short story. I will list the ones I gave 3/4 stars to, but the ones I didn't care for outweighed the ones I liked.

Sugar and Spite, The Slender One, The Missing Ingredient, and Side Work.

This is the first book of 2021. I'm currently in a sort of a reading slump so I thought that short stories would be one of the best ways to get me out of this situation and indeed it was! :)

This is a short novel compilation with several stories about different residents and homes in Hungry Hearts Row, a neighbourhood that is all about food. Food is at the centre of this community and it's beautiful how the different authors show us that and take us into their lives, showing us how they live, their struggles, their dreams, their fears... This was such a fantastic read. There is a bit of theme for everyone from magical, paranormal, ghosts, mysteries, mafia, love, lgbtqia+, you name it.

This is such a nice book to start the year! Loved it :)

Synopsis: Hungry Hearts is a collection of stories by 13 different authors that all take place in Hungry Heart Row, a collection of restaurants with comfort, magic, and some revenge!

Thoughts: I thought this was a really interesting collection! I have to admit, there was a very specific vibe I was expecting to get from the book, kind of comforting and warm and feel good, and I just didn’t get that most of the time. In Hungry Heart’s defense, it didn’t claim to be that, but I think with the cute cover and everything, I wasn’t expecting as many stories involving murder and revenge (not that there was anything wrong with those ones). My favorite stories in the book were Gimme Some Sugar, The Missing Ingredient, The Grand Ishq Adventure, and Bloom! I did definitely enjoy the book, but I left just slightly disappointed from what I was looking for when I picked this up. Would definitely recommend to anyone who liked food related books, and people who like cozy mysteries (especially involving food!!).
