I've always know Atalanta as a side character, and I so enjoyed getting to read her story in full this time around. This wasn't my favorite version of Atalanta's character that I've been introduced to, but I nonetheless had fun reading her story. I especially enjoyed the begining and end which were aspects of Atalanta's story I didn't know before.
I loved the overall plot, the cast of characters, the adventure, and of course, seeing Atalanta showing those so called hero's that she could more than rival them. Where this one lost me a little bit was in the lack of emotion. It felt like we just swung from one plot point to another without a care. Particularly towards the end, there are numerous moments that should have elicited some degree of feeling, but we just skipped past them and onto the next big event.
In this retelling we meet many characters, both new to me and already well loved (or despised - Heracles and Jason, I'm looking at you). One of my favourite things about Jennifer Saint is how she manages to tell not only the story of the titular character, but she also recants so many other myths in great detail too.
I can always rely on Jennifer Saint for a well researched, beautifully written, engaging read - I just wish were were able to languish in the consequences of certain events a little bit more.

I really like Greek mythology retellings. I like the storyline of this book and Atalanta’s story. There are a lot of words I don’t know so it’s a bit annoying looking them up. I always like Artemis, so I’m glad this story has her in it. It’s sad what happened to Callisto, she didn’t deserve that. I enjoyed the adventure Atalanta and Hippomenes had in the beginning. I don’t know how accurate the way she writes the myths but it’s still good. I like how Atalanta sticks up for herself when all the “men” are degrading her. I kinda wish Meleager and Atalanta never happened. I think it kinda ruined her character for me just a little. I do wish some parts had more detail. I feel like if the more interesting parts had more than it would have been a bit better. I wish it wasn’t so fast paced. I think it would have been better. The later parts of the book are definitely slower. The first half was really good. I feel like the author made her less fierce as the book went on and I did not really like that. I definitely enjoyed the beginning but after that it kind of went downhill. I do like how she changes into a lion and is wild and free again. That Artemis has somewhat forgiven her and that she has Hippomenes too. Definitely a solid 3 star for me.

What a wonderful, easy read. Light yet compelling, the story of Atalanta isn’t one you usually find in Greek mythology. I’ve always been drawn to Artemis, and to learn the story of her protégée was incredibly fun.
An extremely relatable tale for any girl who grew up having to be ten times better at something to get respect from boys who thought they were automatically better simply because of their gender.
