Self-made men are my kryptonite and women that ferociously fight for their men are my destruction. Loved Annabelle.

I needed to scratch the Bridgerton itch and this one did nicely.

I liked the story. At times the prose felt a bit simple and stilted, but overall a good book. I think the "fun" scenes were probably the weakest parts of the book. Is it just me, or were these characters actually just Scarlett and Rhett?

Simon is a yearner, which brings this back from the brink, but the manipulative tendencies in the beginning of the book are a little sketchy (but does ultimately make the resolution a little more satisfying so idk). And hooray to women supporting women!

I really just love Lisa’s writing. Somehow she made historical romance worm its way into my brain just enough to make me crave it and never get tired of the stories. I was so on board with the plans the Wallflowers made and was rooting for all four of them the whole book despite knowing this was Annabelle’s story. I was worried I wouldn’t like Simon when his original plan was to just have a mistress, but he won me over (surprise, surprise). There was kind of a lot going on in this book and it kept me on my toes not really knowing where things would go wrong for Annabelle and Simon. Simon was down bad and I loved every second of his chasing Annabelle. The chess game was such a nice element. There was just the right amount of suspense in the back quarter and I couldn’t stop listening! The ending was such a classic moment of realization and setting up the next book (can’t wait). Truly a solid read!

Honestly not my fav historical romance I've read, but that ending was kwaaazzyyyyy. I've heard the series improves so I shall try more, because I did enjoy the setup of the group of women 'The Wallflowers' as friends.
