I think its not possible to describe with words the good this autor has done to me. I found this gem in a blog about 4 years ago, and loved it. Since then i couldnt stop reading romance novels. I love the entire saga. Each of the characters and its latera connections. I totally recommende it.
Thoroughly enjoyable and romantic read. I loved the banter between the wallflowers, and though the focus is love as it is in all Victorian romances, the women are strong characters with unique personalities and interests. Can’t wait to read more of the series!
My least favorite of the Wallflowers series, but still an excellent read. I feel basically opposite of this book as I did reading "Devil in Winter". While Simon Hunt is an interesting character, Annabelle often falls flat (as she continues to do throughout the series). Still worth the read, though, as Kleypas's novels always are :)

7th December 2019 reread
I read it again!! I don't really know why, I just really enjoy this book and I must have reread this at least 3 times by now (my second most reread after [b: Scandal in Spring|105574|Scandal in Spring (Wallflowers, #4)|Lisa Kleypas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1452549904l/105574._SY75_.jpg|101766]!) Just love the two main characters and going back to the Wallflowers makes me feel like I'm in familiar territory again, alongside Annabelle, Lillian, Evie, and Daisy. This series is definitely my favourite historical romance and I can almost guarantee that I'll be rereading it again before long! 4-4.5 stars (again my fave is still Daisy's book but this is a close second!
I have such a soft spot for this one. I think this was the first historical romance I'd ever read, probably a few years since I've last picked it up. At any rate it was the first historical romance which I can recall. The whole 'Wallflowers' series is just so great and I love Kleypas' writing. This isn't my favourite one in the series, I think that was the second one with Lillian but I'll need to reread that too to make sure

This is a re-read for me. 3.5⭐️’s
Book 1: London 1843
I loved the way the girls met and their instant bond. Their pact, generosity, rounders in their knickers, and their unwavering support of each other was so great.
This first story centers around Annabelle, whose main problem snagging a husband is the fact that she doesn’t have a dowry. She’s 25 and no prospects in sight.
Annabelle’s requirements for a husband:
”Any peer will do.
What about good looks?
Welcome, but not necessary.
What about passion?
Decidedly unwelcome.
Intelligence?
Negotiable
Charm?
Also negotiable.”
Simon has a bit of a crush on Annabelle, but because he isn’t a peer she has no interest in him. He says exactly what he thinks and has no desire to fit in with the elite of London who look down on him. He loves to mock the pomp and circumstance of the aristocrats. He’s good at making money and is very wealthy.
I loved Simon, but Annabelle was a little harder to like as her sole ambition was to be accepted by the ton. Little by little she began to see they were not worth her time but I still had a bit of hard time with how long it took her to accept that. She seemed a bit shallow sometimes.
There isn’t anything that I didn’t love about Simon. He’s everything you want a swoony, historical hero to be.
This is a fun book and a good start to the series.
Quotes:
“If the three of you are willing, then so am I. But if we’re to make a pact, shouldn’t we sign it in blood or something?”
“Heavens, no,” Lillian said. “I should think we can all agree to something without having to open a vein over it.”
“A true friend doesn’t let another friend drool when a man is present. Even if it’s a man that one doesn’t wish to attract.”
“We’re talking about a man whose idea of high entertainment is to look at plants. His threshold of boredom is obviously limitless.”
“I love you, dammit.”
She brushed her lips teasingly against his. “How much?”
He made a slight sound, as if the soft kiss had affected him intensely. “Without limit. Beyond forever.”
“I love you more.”
“I would rather have died in your arms, Simon, than face a lifetime without you.”

If she actually cared about the money this book could have been done in 20 pages.
