By far the best translation of Sappho I've ever read. The complementary notes and introduction were also welcome, as was the inclusion of the Brothers Poem discovered in 2014 that I had not read yet. This edition of Sappho's work brought me to my knees and I clung to every word and ellipsis because it's a tragedy that there's not more of it. If you've never read Sappho before I would highly recommend you do so in Diane Raynor's gorgeous translation.

I think if I read this through at a later date with a physical copy I'd enjoy this a lot more - the layout of the ebook I read it on didn't really do this justice and made me a little confused but that's okay, I'll just get a physical copy and reread

Obviously the poems themselves are severely fragmented, but the notes given on each were straightforward and gave a good amount of info.

A really good translation of Sappho's writing. I found both the introduction and the notes on the fragments incredibly insightful not only on the texts themselves, but also on the art of translating.

Scholars say she's a lesbian but she gives big bi vibes from her writing... But-- good poetry/lyricism
